Welcome to Mary Lourdes Academy of Dance We are located at One Genesee Street, New Hartford NY 13440. Telephone number is 797-0609 The faculty and staff of Mary Lourdes Academy of Dance are committed to providing exposure to various branches of the arts and promoting personal satisfaction with one’s performance. It is our philosophy that the Art Experience should be a happy one. Each student should vigorously strive to reach his or her ultimate summit of progress, expression and expertise. We sincerely hope that your child will learn not only to dance, but also to love to dance. Faculty: Principle Instructors; Mary Lourdes Kalil, Sheri Molanare, Megan Sterling, Amanda Thorngren, Elissa Uriarte, Michelle Grimmer and Samantha Rocci Mary Lourdes Kalil: Owner and Artistic Director. Mary Lourdes has operated the Academy for the past 27 years. She has a B.S. in Fine Arts/Elementary Education from Nazareth College in Rochester NY. She has studied dance locally since the age of six. Advanced study was done in New York City, Rochester, and Buffalo. Mary Lourdes has choreographed for national television, national dance championships, and The Miss America Pageant. She is a member of A.S.C.A.P., B.M.I. (professional music societies), and the National Federation of Independent Business. Revue: Saturday May 19, 2012. There will be a 12:00PM Show and a 6:00PM show. We do everything possible to keep students and siblings in one show. Competition students and those participating in the Ballet WILL BE in both shows. Rehearsal will be either Thursday May 17 or Friday May 18. The 12:00 show will rehearse @ 4:00PM. The 6:00PM show will rehearse @ 6:00PM. More information on the actual Day will be posted when known. Costume Money: Costume money will be due by 11:30 AM on Saturday December 10th, 2011. Studio Policy: Tuition is calculated on a yearly basis and is broken down into 9 monthly payments for your convenience. The first and last months payments are due by your first class in September. This is studio policy as well as standard practice for most businesses. Class placement: It is the responsibility of the teacher to place each student in the classes most suitable for him or her. With careful thought and evaluation each student is placed in the class where they will progress and learn the most. Attendance: Please be prompt for class and pick up your child immediately after class. Arrive no more then five minutes before class and come in dance attire. In order to take full advantage of instruction offered, regular attendance is necessary. There are no make-up classes for your absences. Class Behavior: Only students are allowed in the studio area; parents must remain in the reception area. Please no street shoes on the dance floor. Dance Attire: Ballet classes- Black leotard and ballet pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Reception Area: We try to keep our studio a clean place for you. Please clean up after yourself in the reception area. Students and parents are asked to be quiet and courteous in the reception area at all times. Noise and disruptions in the waiting room disturbs students in the class as well as adults in the waiting area. Viewing: For classes held in studio B and C -We will be changing studios for viewing purposes beginning in October and continuing through May. Viewing will occur the first full week of each month. Competition classes will not always change studios however the teacher will leave the studio door open during the first week of the month. You may be assured that although you may not be in the studio every week watching, your child is being instructed in a manner keenly associated with progress and efficient dance training. |
